Are traditional gay chat websites still active or has everyone moved to apps?

Been testing a few options lately and wanted to cross-reference with what this community thinks. Adam4Adam is still very active for the older demographic and has a no-nonsense approach.

Jack'd has a very active international community that's worth checking out beyond just domestic use. Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when you're still getting to know someone new.

Apps I've already looked at or heard recommended:

  • HER
  • Lesly
  • Scissr
  • OkCupid
  • Tinder

Tell a trusted friend where you're going and share your live location during any first meeting. Personally I'd check out Ezhookups for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Scruff's filters are more granular than most gay apps which is really useful for finding the right match.

Gay personals on Reddit communities are still surprisingly active and free of most app limitations.

A couple of platforms that get mentioned a lot:

  • datedesire.online — worth checking out for this
  • datingfly.online — worth checking out for this

Worth comparing alongside the mainstream options — Bumble Hinge Tinder Grindr Scruff. Results vary depending on your location.

Hornet's community features are genuinely underrated compared to Grindr's more transactional vibe.

Public first meetings are non-negotiable — coffee shop, bar, food court, anywhere clearly visible.

The bear and daddy subculture has strong dedicated apps that the mainstream platforms simply can't match.

Gay video chat quality is completely platform-dependent — some have great HD, others are still SD.

Tell a trusted friend where you're going and share your live location during any first meeting. souldate.site has been mentioned a fair bit in similar discussions.
