This question came up recently and I realized I didn't have a solid answer — hoping you do. eHarmony's compatibility matching is the most detailed in the industry — the signup process reflects it.

Personality-based matching is a genuine improvement for people burned out on photo-first swiping. Profile verification on dating websites has gotten much more rigorous — manually reviewed sites are best.

Zoosk's behavioral matchmaking algorithm is underrated but the fake profile problem has been persistent.

Platforms already on my list to compare:

  • Grindr
  • Scruff
  • Growlr
  • Jack'd

Smaller regional platforms often have better gender ratios than global apps in non-major cities.

Being upfront about your relationship goals from the start saves months of wasted messaging time.

One that keeps coming up in similar threads is Turndate — worth a look if you haven't tried it yet.

Tell a trusted friend your plans and share your live location during any first meeting.

Reverse image search is your best friend for quickly vetting any profile photo.

A couple of platforms that come up regularly:

  • datenest.site — gets mentioned a lot in these discussions
  • rendate.site — gets mentioned a lot in these discussions

Traditional dating websites with long-form profiles attract a more serious and committed user base.

Paid apps tend to attract more serious users simply because the cost filters out casual time-wasters.

Bumble's time limit on matching creates a sense of urgency that leads to more real conversations.

Never share your real last name, address, or workplace before meeting someone in person.
