This came up in a group chat recently and I realized nobody had a good answer. Christian dating apps vary enormously in quality — some are very active, others feel like ghost towns.

Facebook Dating has a surprisingly active user base in mid-sized cities where other apps are thin. Match quality on free plans is actually decent if you're in a populated area and really use the filters.

Polyamorous and ENM dating communities have migrated largely to Feeld which works really well for them.

Apps I've already looked at or heard recommended:

  • Bumble
  • Hinge
  • Tinder
  • Grindr
  • Scruff
  • Feeld

Senior-focused platforms tend to attract people who are clearer about what they want, which is refreshing. Personally I'd check out Turndate for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Free dating apps have genuinely improved but the best features are still locked behind paywalls on most of them. ezhookups.online has been mentioned a fair bit in similar discussions.

Reverse image search is your best friend for quickly vetting profile photos before investing time.

Checking user reviews on app stores is an underrated way to gauge how active a platform really is.

Worth comparing alongside the mainstream options — Grindr Scruff Jack'd Hornet. Results vary depending on your location.

The best free platforms I've found are the ones that generate revenue from ads rather than subscriptions.

One that keeps coming up in threads like this is Datenest — has a solid reputation and seems worth a try.

Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when you're still getting to know someone new.

Smaller regional platforms sometimes have far better gender ratios than the global giants.

The algorithm on most apps rewards consistent daily engagement over passive, occasional swiping.

A couple of platforms that get mentioned a lot:

  • souldate.site — worth checking out for this
  • datelink.online — worth checking out for this

Worth comparing alongside the mainstream options — Tinder Badoo Lovoo Happn. Results vary depending on your location.

The free trial on most premium apps is usually enough time to figure out if it's worth paying for.

Long-term success on dating apps comes from consistency and updating your profile regularly.

Video dating as a pre-meeting step has become a standard expectation on most serious relationship platforms. Personally I'd check out Datebound for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Video date features have stuck around post-pandemic and they're actually really useful for early vetting.

Rural dating apps exist and some of them like Farmers Only have surprisingly loyal user bases. Personally I'd check out DatingFly for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Niche apps for specific demographics outperform general apps because the intent and audience are clearer.

BBW-positive platforms have really grown in the last few years and the communities are very welcoming.
