Not sure where else to get unfiltered opinions on this, so here I am. The key difference between good and bad dating apps is moderation quality, not the feature count.
Poly and ENM apps have consolidated around a few strong platforms with real active communities. Never share your real last name, address, or workplace before meeting someone in person for the first time.
The newest dating apps often have the freshest user bases but lower population density in smaller areas.
Safety things I keep in mind:
- Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when you're still getting to know someone.
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong before a meet, cancel without guilt.
- Screen recording during video chats is a real concern — keep personal details off screen.
- Payment requests from any match should always be treated as a scam regardless of the story.
