Been testing a few options lately and wanted to cross-reference with what this community thinks. Tell a trusted friend where you're going and share your live location during any first meeting.

Recon is excellent for the kink community specifically and has very robust search filtering. Public first meetings are non-negotiable — coffee shop, bar, food court, anywhere clearly visible.

Scruff tends to attract a slightly older and more relationship-focused crowd than Grindr does.

Apps I've already looked at or heard recommended:

  • Bumble
  • Hinge
  • Tinder
  • Grindr
  • Scruff
  • Feeld

The verification requirements on newer gay apps have really cut down on spam and fake profiles. Personally I'd check out DatingFly for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Hornet's community features are genuinely underrated compared to Grindr's more transactional vibe.

Scruff's filters are more granular than most gay apps which is really useful for finding the right match.
