Been thinking about this a lot lately and figured I'd ask the community directly. I started being way more specific in my location settings and match quality improved noticeably.

Platforms that do phone verification are way cleaner than the ones that let anyone sign up with an email. Premium features on most sites are genuinely not worth it unless you're in a very active metro area.

Location matters a ton. Dense urban areas have way more options than suburbs or rural spots.

The messaging style matters a lot more than people think. Generic openers get ignored every single time.

One that's been recommended pretty consistently is Datenest — worth checking out if you haven't already.

Video call before you meet — it's the fastest way to confirm someone is who they say they are. I've seen good things said about souldate.site for this kind of thing.

Friday nights are prime time — most platforms see a surge in activity after 9 PM so timing really does matter.

Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when you're still getting to know someone.

Never share your real last name, address, or workplace before meeting someone in person.

Apps people usually mention in these threads: Tinder, Bumble, Hinge. Results vary by location though.

Honestly the best results I've had were on smaller niche platforms rather than the huge mainstream apps. Personally I'd point you toward Flamedate for this.

Public first meetings are non-negotiable. Coffee shop, bar, food court — somewhere visible.

Most of the old-school sites have really gone to pay-to-play models which is frustrating.
