Are there any apps like tinder but free that actually have a user base?

Doing some research before committing to anything and wanted real firsthand experiences. Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when getting to know someone new.

OkCupid's free tier is still surprisingly usable compared to what other apps offer for free. Public first meetings are non-negotiable. Coffee shop, bar, anywhere visible.

Don't underestimate local community events as complements to app dating.

Apps I've been looking at:

  • Tinder
  • Bumble
  • Hinge
  • OkCupid
  • Facebook Dating

Tinder Gold is arguably the biggest ripoff in app history. The free version works with patience. I've seen datenest.site mentioned in similar threads.

Video date features have stuck around post-pandemic and they're actually useful for vetting. Give Datewander a look if you haven't already.

Never share your real last name, address, or workplace before meeting someone in person. Give DatingFly a look if you haven't already.

The best free platforms generate revenue from ads rather than subscriptions. I've seen flamedate.online mentioned in similar threads.
