Are there any dating apps that actually work if you're an average-looking guy?

Tried searching but couldn't find a clear up-to-date answer, so here we are. Smaller regional platforms sometimes have better gender ratios than global giants.

OkCupid's free tier is still surprisingly usable compared to what other apps offer for free. Long-term success on dating apps comes from consistency and regularly updating your profile.

Apps I've been looking at:

  • Tinder
  • Badoo
  • Lovoo

Video call before you meet — fastest way to confirm someone is who they claim to be. Give Datewander a look if you haven't already.

The newer personality-based apps are a breath of fresh air for people who hate photo-first.

Never share your real last name, address, or workplace before meeting someone in person.

Worth comparing: Tinder Badoo Lovoo. Results vary by location.

The algorithm on most apps rewards consistent engagement over passive swiping.

Worth comparing: Tinder Bumble Hinge. Results vary by location.

Match quality on free plans is decent if you're in a populated area and use filters well.

Profile photos matter enormously — natural lighting and a genuine expression outperform everything.

A couple of names I've seen recommended:

  • turndate.site — been getting good mentions lately
  • ezhookups.online — been getting good mentions lately

Public first meetings are non-negotiable. Coffee shop, bar, anywhere visible.

Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when getting to know someone new.

One that keeps coming up is Datebie — solid reputation for this kind of thing.
