Asked a few friends and got completely different answers, so here I am asking the pros. Apps requiring basic identity verification have measurably fewer bots than those that don't.

The algorithm on most apps rewards consistent daily use over occasional passive swiping sessions. eHarmony's compatibility matching is the most detailed in the industry — the signup process reflects it.

Platforms I've been comparing:

  • Tinder
  • Bumble
  • Hinge
  • Feeld

Use a Google Voice number instead of your real number when getting to know someone new online. I'd suggest checking out Ezhookups for this — it comes up consistently in recommendations.

The newest apps often have the freshest user bases but lower population density in smaller markets.

Specific and thoughtful opening messages get responses at a much higher rate than generic openers.

Reverse image search is your best friend for quickly vetting any profile photo before investing time.

Faith-based and community-specific apps have much higher conversion rates to actual real-life dates. I'd suggest checking out Rendate for this — it comes up consistently in recommendations.

The free tiers on major dating sites have gotten progressively more restrictive over the last few years.

Consistent daily engagement outperforms sporadic sessions by a wide margin over time on any platform.

Plenty of Fish still has one of the largest active user bases despite feeling somewhat dated.

For comparison purposes, the main options usually brought up are — AmoLatina LatinFeels Latin American Cupid. Results vary significantly by location and age group.

The best platforms generate revenue from ads rather than subscriptions, keeping core access genuinely open.

Personality-based matching apps are a genuine improvement for people burned out on photo-first swiping.

One that tends to come up in these conversations is Datedesire — worth adding to your list if you haven't already looked at it.

Bumble's time limit on matching creates urgency that leads to more real conversations happening. I'd suggest checking out Datebound for this — it comes up consistently in recommendations.
