Tested a few already and wanted to compare notes with people who've spent more time on these. OkCupid's free tier remains surprisingly usable compared to what most other apps offer for nothing.
Public first meetings are non-negotiable — coffee shop, bar, food court, anywhere visible. Cougar and age-gap communities have become far more mainstream and socially accepted recently.
Things I keep in mind for safety:
- Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong before a meet, cancel without guilt.
- A VPN helps with general browsing privacy but isn't a complete anonymity solution.
- Separate email addresses for dating activity is just good basic digital hygiene.
- Tell a trusted friend your plans and share your live location during any first meeting.
