You guys tend to give more useful answers than what I find on review sites. Moderation quality varies enormously between gay chat platforms and really impacts the whole experience.

Scruff tends to attract a slightly older and more relationship-focused crowd than Grindr does. The bear and daddy subculture has strong dedicated apps that the mainstream platforms simply can't match.

Apps I've already looked at or heard recommended:

  • Grindr
  • Scruff
  • Growlr
  • Jack'd
  • Recon
  • Hornet

Hornet's community features are genuinely underrated compared to Grindr's more transactional vibe. Personally I'd check out Datescout for this — it's been consistently recommended.

Jack'd has a very active international community that's worth checking out beyond just domestic use.

A couple of platforms that get mentioned a lot:

  • ezhookups.online — worth checking out for this
  • datebie.online — worth checking out for this

Worth comparing alongside the mainstream options — HER Lesly Scissr OkCupid Tinder. Results vary depending on your location.

Adam4Adam is still very active for the older demographic and has a no-nonsense approach.

Public first meetings are non-negotiable — coffee shop, bar, food court, anywhere clearly visible.
